Hoops & Flutes

Hoops: Theresa had heard about the hoopers at the JFX market but could never find them! These two women have been hooping for 12 years! They’ve seen kids come over and over again, watching them go from kids to teenagers to adults, from 8 years old to 20 years old. Every week for 12 years! Kids can make their own hoop, take it home. Very magical. Until one morning she watched a video of one of the hoopers skateboarding, and then that night she finally met one of the hoopers at a friend’s birthday party! “I watched a video of you skateboarding this morning," she told the hooper.

Flutes: On this seed, Theresa paid homage to Abu the Flutemaker. She introduced me to Abu when I was looking for a musician to busk at my thesis show. We toured his home studio together, where I heard sounds that I didn't even know were possible to come out of old PVC pipes. Represented on this seed are Abu's iconic watermelon drums made from army hats. Kids love drumming along with Abu and making music.
