Mom's Purple Cauliflower Oct 2021

Mom bought purple cauliflower because it was pretty! I sent her shopping and she returned with speckled beans and black beans from the Pea Man—who was incredulous that she didn’t want a third pound of beans for a dollar! That would be a lot of beans…She bought garlic lime olives, a chutney salsa, two small loaves of bread, kombucha, and of course a falafel wrap from Farm to Face. She needed to taste my months of work! We spent the afternoon cooking in my kitchen—a speckled bean and green bean salad with pickled onions; an apple cabbage slaw with fennel seed and basil; an apple pie with crust made of ghee instead of butter. We congratulated each other throughout dinner on our various dishes. We were definitely the most vocal about the food.
