Palengke - Oja 3.16.24

3/16/2024

I first met this storyteller at Farm to Face. She would come for a falafel wrap. In January of 2023, I learned that she was Filipina after sharing about the champorado that Mike and I had made for New Year's Eve. She brought me tablea, which I used to make a big batch of champorado to share with her and my Farm to Face co-workers. Today she and her husband stumbled upon my Story Seeds stand and I was able to introduce them to Mike--"They're the ones who gave us tablea!" Mike and this storyteller are both from Cebu and can speak Bisaya. The storyteller's husband is from Nigeria and can speak a bit of Tagalog. She drew the Filipino and Nigerian flags on her Story Seed, with the word for 'market' in each language. They've both visited each other's homes. "It's a mix of cultures," her husband said. In fact, lots of family members are married to people from different countries, so when they get together it's like the United Nations!
