Dressed up in a pirate hat, this young storyteller shares his market story: the time he got to pick a free vegetable for his birthday from One Straw Farm! He chose radishes because he doesn’t get to eat radishes all year round! A child who appreciates radish season…I hope my child appreciates the seasonality of vegetables someday. He and his dad come to the market every Saturday, pulling a canopy wagon to fill with groceries that his mom has sent them searching for. They pick up their CSA from Farmer Joan, supplement it with vegetables from Farmer Billy, and buy a dozen eggs from Mr. Andy. His dad grew up going to farmers’ markets in Texas, eating fresh beans. The intergenerational element of the market is really special.
